Since this school year, young athletes from the judo division have also been training during school hours, thanks to the close partnership between the judo division and the neighboring Unterrieden Gymnasium. The goal of this training session is to increase overall training volume while easing the load of evening sessions. That’s why every Tuesday during the 7th school period — which falls during the lunch break — a general athletics training takes place. It helps improve the athletes’ physical conditioning without adding extra strain to the children’s or their families’ daily schedules.
Whether it’s strength training, endurance work, or coordination games — the lunch break is used productively to improve the performance of the young judoka. The training session is led by a physical education teacher, and the content is closely coordinated with the judo division’s coaching staff.
In the medium term, this program is to be expanded and enhanced so that athletic performance and academic achievement can go hand in hand. A successful sports career is closely linked to a positive academic path. This connection is essential to support athletic careers, strengthen academic performance, and optimize the time and emotional demands placed on the children and their families. We’re now taking the first step!
